...Shit, I shot it! [Feb. 9th, 2007|12:29 am]

New member here, just wanted to say hi. :)

I've been an Assassins fan for a couple years, it's my second favorite show (after Sweeney Todd) so I'm surprised I haven't joined this community yet.

Anyway, my college (Oberlin College) is doing it this spring as the mainstage show and I'm cast as Sara Jane Moore. We just started rehearsals on Monday (much to my dismay, as the last show I was in, "See What I Wanna See," closed the night before and my poor voice needs a rest!) and the actual production goes up in late April. Needless to say, I'm enthralled about being in this show.

What I'm a little less than enthralled about is the fact that my acting professor is guest-starring as Guiteau, and he's fabulous, but... hahaha, oy.

Nice to see this community exists!

Unworthy of Your Love and The Ballad of Guiteau are are my fave tunes from the show.

Have you read Sarah Vowell's Assassination Vacation, by chance?

No I have not, what's it about? I assume it's worth checking out though. :)

Well it is about the first three presidential executions and she starts off talking about going to see Assassins at a college. Sarah Vowell is a favorite author of mine and I highly recommend it. She adds some insight and humor.
